"My Irish Nanny, Julia Bell, was a strong willed loving person.
She had a caring soul and was very aware. This photograph was taken while enjoying an afternoon with her. The idea for the shot came after taking her to a pet store. As we were leaving the pet store she jokingly put up her fists and said "Why'd you bring me here." and smirked. At 85-years-old she was sharp as a tack, but knew she couldn't have a pet anymore. We left the store and continued on our "lunch date" afternoon drive. She wanted to buy me something, but I refused and then we drove by a parking lot that had an ally in it. My mind's photography light bulb sparked and I asked her if I could take a picture of her with her "dukes" up. She knew exactly what to do. The image has turned out to be the cornerstone of my dream to enhance environments."
